I didn't know that the "fans" were needing a "fix"...in any case an
interesting choice of words for Squire.
Interesting too the Hackett comments...CSN-like vox with Squire on
bass and Hackett on guitar?  I'm all over that, likely purchasing
multiples to pass around.

Also, is someone from Reuters/Billboard reading a.m.y.? They mention
the same thing that appears in the first posting of the ' "Not Yes"
Removed' thread on a.m.y. Interesting indeed the "underrated
songwriter and good singer" comment on Hackett. In the Genesis
"History" video, Mike Rutherford once claimed "[Hackett's] songwriting
was not very good, so I had to help him in that department", which
made me laugh. Maybe he implied a songwriting credit he gets on
Hackett's first solo album "Voyage of the Acolyte", if I remember
correctly. But, ironically, two years after that album, Hackett
announced his departure from Genesis because "With so many composers
in the group, it was difficult to ensure each got a fair slice of the
songwriting's cake". Let his albums speak about his being a "good
singer".

To be fair, Squire and Rutherford could easily mean very different things by
"songwriter."

Hackett leaving Genesis was just as bad or worse than Gabriel
leaving...

No event which led to albums such as _Spectral Mornings_ or _Please
Don't Touch_ being created can be called "bad".
All things considered, I'm deeply *grateful* that Hackett left.

Yep, that's when the magic went out the window. Hackett is one of the
most distinctive guitar players in rock, a very underrated musician.

In retrospect, it was far more significant than it seemed at the time.
I've always been disappointed by the reactions of Banks, Collins and
Rutherford when they describe Hackett's departure in interviews.
According to them, it was no big deal. Maybe not from a personal point
of view, but musically, it was the beginning of the end.

Agreed. Spin Trick of T, W & W.................. and then spin Duke
and Abacab (bleck!)
ATTWT was decent (not great) so I left it out.
